Plumbing Industry News – Compliant Product Directory
Posted on March 15, 2017
Thank you to Nic Lourens from Bizolutions and the New Zealand Plumbers, Drainlayers and Gasfitters Association for this article on an important resource regarding compliant plumbing products that has been created for the public and contractors.
The Plumbing Distributor Association (PDANZ) and the Plumbing and Pipeline Industry Advisory Group (PPIAG) have major issues with plumbing products that do not comply with the Building Code. In Australia they have Watermark, so plumbing products must have Watermark to be sold or installed.
In NZ we do not. NZ plumbing products need to show compliance to the Building Code. Watermark is the most common way, but is not compulsory, and it can sometimes be hard to tell which products have Watermark and which do not.
Now there is an easy way to see which products comply with the NZ Building Code.

The New Zealand Building Code Compliant Product Directory has been set up to help plumbers, merchants, council inspectors and many other people in the trade to clearly identify product that complies with the NZ Building Code. It is simple, if the product is on the website then it complies with the NZ Building Code. The plumber/builder can install the product knowing it can be legally installed in NZ.
This site is free to everyone to view 24/7.
It is run by an independent NZ Company and will include gas and building products as well.
